The Clearinghouse for Affordable Housing and
Community Finance Resources

The Clearinghouse is a source of information on over 200 housing programs, government, private lenders and foundation grants. Each program listing identifies the goals, eligible activities and type of funding, as well as such critical and timely information as application deadlines and current funding availability. We encourage you to check our website often for updates. Although the Clearinghouse allows individuals to search for resources, it is primarily geared to assisting housing sponsors (private and nonprofit developers) and units of government.

Since the Department of Housing and Community Development primarily funds local governments and project-specific housing sponsors, individuals seeking information on housing assistance programs for low-and moderate income households should contact city and/or county Planning, Community Development and Housing Departments to request information on available programs. Use the Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR) Planners Book of Lists to contact local governments at http://www.opr.ca.gov/index.php?a=planning/publications.html#pubs-C.

State resources include the State housing finance agency that provides loans to eligible low-and moderate income applicants, including homeownership and the extra credit teacher programs at www.calhfa.ca.gov.
Information on the State private activity bond and tax credit programs are available at www.treasurer.ca.gov/cdlac
